What is the Wheel of the Year?
The Wheel of the Year is a spiritual and agricultural calendar celebrated in many Pagan traditions, particularly Wicca. It marks the cyclical nature of the seasons and the ever-changing aspects of life, emphasising the deep connection between humanity and the natural world. The Wheel is divided into eight festivals, also known as Sabbats, each representing a significant point in the Earth's annual journey around the Sun.

The Winter Solstice is the shortest day and longest night of the year, when we have reached the depths of the darkness, after which the days begin to lengthen and we welcome back the light of the sun.

This mini Hibernation Retreat is the prefect time to pause and reflect upon the past year and what is has brought you; a natural time to say goodbye to the old before welcoming in the new; an ending to create a new beginning.

Over the course of two hours, you will engage in a restorative yoga session, deep relaxation and reflective practices.
This time out for yourself is especially important amidst the demands of the festive season, which can often leave us feeling stressed and drained. By taking this pause, you’ll re-energise and recharge, preparing to shine your light and offer more to those around you.

Celebrate the turning of the Wheel with me, honour your personal journey and emerge renewed as you prepare for the light’s return.
Each attendee will receive a crystal for the season, journal prompts & oracle card.
All props are provided + session suitable for all levels.
Imbolc Awakening: A Yoga Event to Welcome the Light
at Landmark Theatre, Ilfracombe

As the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, Imbolc is a time of purification, awakening, and the first signs of life stirring from beneath the earth. This special yoga event invites you to connect deeply with the transformative energy of Imbolc, as we slowly emerge from winter's embrace and prepare to welcome the returning light.

FRIDAY 31ST JANUARY

LANDMARK THEATRE ILFRACOMBE

The word Imbolc means "in the navel," symbolizing the first stirrings of life within the womb of Mother Earth. For ancient peoples, this was a time of celebration, marking the beginning of lambing season and the promise of spring's return after the long, hard winter.
Imbolc is a fire festival associated with the goddess Brigid, a deity of fertility, wisdom and healing. She teaches us how to nurture both the land and our inner selves.

This 2-hour retreat will be a gentle yet powerful practice to help you reflect on the wisdom you've gained over winter and consciously prepare for new beginnings. Through a blend of yoga, meditation and reflective practices, we will honour the inner seeds that are preparing to grow and emerge with the coming spring.
We will also incorporate ancient Imbolc rituals by lighting candles to welcome the return of the sun and symbolically cleanse away the darkness of winter.
What to Expect:
-
A grounding yoga practice designed to gently awaken the body after winter’s rest
-
Meditation and reflection on the inner wisdom gained during the winter months
-
Imbolc-inspired rituals to welcome the returning light and honor the goddess Brigid
-
A chance to connect deeply with yourself and set intentions for the coming months
